The Police, and Fire Departments has partnered up with Amazon's Ring

The Financial Times estimates that more than double the 703 new additions from a year earlier was added to the Ring's Neighbors Portal service in 2020 by the number of local police and fire departments. A mere 40 signed up in 2018. There are currently only two states where there are no agencies involved: Wyoming and Montana.

Amazon Ring: Phantom smart doorbell chimes alarm owners - BBC News

Images of more than 22,235 incidents last year were requested by the police and fire services involved in the initiative. Amazon states that clients can opt-out of accepting police requests, but it is also possible to use subpoenas, search warrants, and court orders to access videos of customers who want to reject requests. The police made 1,900 demands for information that customers had refused them, and 57 percent of those agreed with Amazon, which has the final say over whether to hand over something. Although that is lower than the 67% it complied with during 2019, in 2020 the number of such requests increased by 150%.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) cautioned that while certain owners may be all right to share their video, it is likely that neighbors and passers-by might be captured on tape, creating a "massive and unchallenged" surveillance network in essence.

Many unconcerned about the privacy implications of the software may feel better knowing that police have another tool in their arsenal, but a February 2019 NBC News study found it was not helpful when investigating serious crimes-most of the arrests used for low-level, non-violent property crimes were Ring video.

Apple likely to announce new Macs with custom silicon on its next scheduled event on November 10

Apple on Monday announced its third media event in as many months, inviting interested parties to tune in for an online presentation next week on November 10. There has been a rumor that during the upcoming event, Apple will be announcing that they will be transitioning to the next wave which is custom silicon.

Back in June during its WWDC keynote, Apple said it would begin the switch from Intel hardware to custom Apple silicon later this year.

With two events already in the books – one in September that focused on new Apple Watches and an updated iPad, and another in October that highlighted the iPhone 12 family – the Mac is really the only major product line that Apple has left to update.

Next week, we might see several other devices crack attention, not outside the realm of possibility, but if equipment such as the rumored AirPods Studio headphones or AirTags materializes, they would probably be in addition to news about Arm-based Macs. Neither seems effective enough to involve an event to expose their own product. Meanwhile, Arm is in the process of being acquired by Nvidia, the GPU manufacturer.

The "One More Thing" event for Apple is expected to be streamed over the Internet on November 10 at 10 a.m. pacific

Amazon Urges Buds Owners to Update Their Wearable Tech Due to Overheating Issue

In the wireless earbud market, Amazon’s Echo Buds are one of the better products. Despite their quality, unfortunately, like every technology ever created, there is a serious flaw in the buds’ firmware. The flaw is in rare situations the bud overheats.

So far, users have not been substantially impacted by this flaw, but it’s still a problem, and it`s one Amazon is wisely taking seriously. With the latest Buds software update, Amazon has already patched the problem, while improving their battery life at the same time.

The company has already started to send out emails to Buds owners that inform them of the risk and urge them to update. An excerpt from one such email reads as follows:

We are writing to inform you about an important software update for your Echo Buds.

The safety of our customers is our top priority. We recently determined that in very rare cases it is possible for Echo Buds to overheat while in the charging case. Out of an abundance of caution, we have released a software update that addresses this potential safety risk and improves the long-term performance of Echo Buds’ batteries.

What amazes people is the apparent speed with which Amazon responded to this debacle, unlike other large tech companies who do not react to complaints and problems until they are forced to do due to political pressure, or legal issues.

If you’re concerned about running into the overheating problem with your own pair of Buds, don’t fret too much. As long as your pair is charged, stowed in its carrying case, and linked to a phone with a reliable internet connection, they should automatically receive the latest software updates (including this security fix).

Sony plans to launch PS5 later this week

For all the gamers around the world, Sony has planned to launch one of the most anticipated video game consoles PlayStation 5 on June 11, 2020. The company initially stated "The Future of Gaming" live stream for June 4, but in the wake of protests and riots over the death of George Floyd, it decided to put it off for an indefinite period. As things begin to settle back down, Sony feels a one-week postponement is sufficient.

You can watch The Future of Gaming starting on June 11 at 1 pm PDT on PlayStation's YouTube or Twitch channels.

Rotterdam tech bags designer can start again after the reopening of the Italian studio

A year ago, the Simone Tertoolen from Rotterdam presented the first model in her sack name MINOIS, which was generally welcomed during the structure week in Milan and New York Fashion Week. She went to work with two new models, however, Corona tossed a spanner in progress, and the Italian production line needed to close. Now that the factory can open again, Simone can still start production of its latest model. Her tech bags include features such as built-in lighting, a charger for your phone and a wireless charger for the bag.

The MINOIS line with the Isobel tote has received a new addition, which should also fit your laptop. After the forced interruption by Corona, the Italian factory is now able to start manufacturing this model. Simone is also working on the development of a third model.

Greetings from Easy Hardware Trading

Hello again, fellow Tech savvy,

This is the new website of Easy Hardware Trading B.V, as we scrapped our old Online headquarter due to the feedback we receive from our customers. The new website will be prettier, more convenient, and most of all, more awesome!

Since you are already on our web blog spots, what are the changes that distinct this brand-new website from the old, obsolete one?

  1. Visual appealing and structure configurations

The first thing can be noticed when visiting the landing page, are the differences in visual design. Our new EHT website is based on “minimalism” and sleek style, with the moderate combination of visual elements (pictures, videos, logos, …) and texts, which is currently a trend among modern corporate websites. The sections are clearly divided, and the use of color tones and background pictures makes sure customers don’t feel overwhelmed or bored during their stay. The menu bars are shortened and divided into main functions, the search tool still makes an appearance to direct visitors to where they want. The change in design structure also leads to another change, which is the increase in…

2. Usability and Information

… The navigation is less chaotic and more well-categorized. Visitors have a general idea about where to go when they first visit the page. The content of one section could be viewed by scrolling down or click on the submenu. This new website will feature more than just lists of equipment, as we realize how crucial it is to constantly communicate with our clients, not only about products or prices, but also about the company’s vision, culture, and our mutual interest: technology. All the new information is stored in a different section, separated from the business part, such as this Blog itself. The customer service also response timely and correctly. Visitors don’t need to worry about spending more times to scan through our new sections, as we will keep you entertained, by…

3. The richness of media contents

The EHT website will feature a link to subscribe to our monthly newsletters, a blog, and information about our team and bonding events. The newsletters will cover a certain topic each month, and provide a briefing on what the Blog page is about on that month. All updates on our company: new employees, new business ideas, environmental projects, … will be subsequently updated on both the social media channels as well as the website.

4. Product detail.

And here, the focal point of our business. The most notable features upgraded from the old website is the detail configurations of each product, their state of usage (used, new, refurbished, along with the description and real-life pictures.

We hope that these characteristics above are enough to begin with. The website will, of course, be up-to-date, and will always strive to bring the best experience to visitors when doing business with us. For now, please feel free to go explore EHT new online domain!
